My First International Polish Babies!
Friday, February 24, 2012nail a college drop outAwhile back my lovely boyfriend gave me $100 to spend on nail polish and here is a snippet of what I got.
Yessir!!! I got Essence Blue Addicted! I'm really excited about these for multiple reasons.
1. They're much much cheaper dupes of Deborah Lippmann Across The Universe.
2. They're glitter.
3. They're my first international polish babies!!! Yay!!!!
Don't you just love affordable dupes of expensive polishes?
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.
Welp, after having a few guest bloggers I became one myself.
I did a little post for Kayla at kaylashevonne.com. Here's the direct link to it.
For this fruit-tastic mani I used Nina Ultra Pro Sailor, Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, Icing Shattered Glass, and a combination of beads and rhinestones from maytheps-au.com.
Does this mani count towards my 9 servings a day?

You sexy little thing! You know you love Victoria's Secret! So it is only right to have Victoria's Secret inspired nails!
For this mani I did a gradient of Wet n Wild Fast Dry Everybody Loves Redmond, Icing Hot Date, and H&M Purple In Paris. And stamped over it with Sally Hansen Color Quick Gold Chrome and Bundle Monster plate BM21.
Happy Valentine's Day you little vixen!

Guest Post: Last But Not Least...
Sunday, February 12, 2012nail a college drop out
The last guest post in this series is brought to you by none other than Michelle from Sonoma Nail Art!
Hi polish friends! I am Michelle from Sonoma Nail Art and I was delighted to be asked to do a Valentine’s guest post for Briana’s blog. Little fat cherubs are so cute, and a typical Valentine’s symbol, so I decided to go with it for my guest mani.
I have a little cherub on my thumb, random pink and purple hearts on my index, ring, and pinky fingers, and a lacy heart on my middle finger.
I started with a base of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in French Kiss, this is three coats. Unlike this photo, the color in real life is more of a salmon pink. The name is great for a Valentine’s manicure, don’t you think?
I use acrylic paint (the kind you find in any craft store) to make my nail art. I used a model of a little cherub that I found online here: http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/images/features/1760/Cherub%20B&W.jpg The little cheeky smile, and cute pose were really fun to paint. I also added a big heart on my middle finger.
Next I added TINY white dots of acrylic paint around the heart to simulate a lacy edge. I used my small nail art brush (I got it at Sally’s Beauty Supply, and it has an orange handle and is labeled #306) to do these dots. I had to keep thinning my acrylic paint with water to make sure the paint was super thin and would make these teeny dots. If your paint is too gloopy, you can’t get this kind of detail.
Finally I added smaller hearts on my other fingers and sealed everything with a coat of Seche Vite topcoat. Any of the elements of this manicure would make a fun Valentine mani. The cherub, the mini hearts, or the larger lacy heart. Have a great V-day!
Yet another beast nail artist! Way to go Michelle!!

Guest Post: You Copy That Sargent?
Saturday, February 11, 2012nail a college drop out
Yessir, yet another guest post! This one is from Linda from Copy That, Copy Cat!
Greetings from Australia! I’d like to thank Briana for welcoming me to her blog :)
Today I will be showing you a mani that I love and would be perfect for Valentines Day coming up soon! I don’t have any step by step pictures or a tutorial as such, but I can definitely give you a rundown of the steps to create this look.
The products I used for this mani include:
- - Orly Strengthening & Repairing base coat
- - Sally Hansen I Do (base colour)
- -OPI Teenage Dream (1st French layer)
- -China Glaze Pom Pom (2nd French layer)
- -Art Club Striper in White (Lace)
- -Art Club Silver Glitter (Centre of lace)
- -SecheVite Dry Fast top coat
1. 1. First paint your nail with your favourite base coat and allow to dry.
2. 2. Next paint your nails with a sheer nude or pinkish polish. I’ve used Sally Hansen’s I Do. (This step is optional)
3. 3. Using Teenage Dream, paint down to about halfway of your nail and let that dry.
4. 4. Now using Pom Pom, paint down a quarter of your nail and leave it to dry
5. 5. Using the white striper polish, paint 2 parallel diagonal likes from the side of your nail to the free edge of your nail. After, paint half circles along the outer parts of those lines. Add small dots or very short lines around those half circles.
6. 6. Using the silver glitter striper, add some glitter to the centre of the 2 lines.
7. 7. Finish off with a top coat to seal your design & you’re done!
I hope the tutorial was easy to follow and that you like these simple and chic nails :) Thanks again to Briana for featuring me on her blog. Keep up the good work on your blog, you are welcome on mine anytime :)
She's a beast monster! be sure to check out her blog!

Guest Post: I'm Sexy And I Know It!
Thursday, February 09, 2012nail a college drop out
Since Valentine's day is rapidly approaching I've got a few guest blog posts from my fellow nail polish hoaders enthusiasts whose work I admire.
Today, I have a post from Amber from Amberdidit.com, yay!
Hey ya'll! I am very honored that Briana asked me to be a part of her blog and I am so glad to be able to share my nail art with all of you, I hope you enjoy it! :)
When most people think of Valentine's Day, they think of huge bouquets of long stem roses and cute fluffy teddy bears and big red heart shaped boxes of chocolates....well, not me! ;)
I think of cute little devils and candy conversation hearts that say things like "Ur Sexy" and "Hot Stuff". ;)
For this design I used NYC Black Creme and Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow for the bases and various acrylics craft paints with Seche Vite top coat.
I really enjoyed working on this design and I really hope you liked it as well. I had a lot of fun. :)
I hope you all have a HOT Valentines Day! XOXO
Isnt this hilariously cute? Way to be outside the box Amber!

Since I named my blog Nail A College Drop Out; I figured I should do a post on the college I spent three semesters of my life at.
*ORU Prayer Tower
Yup, little ol' me went to Oral Roberts University. Crazy right?
Anyway, their homecoming is approaching so here it is.
I know this isn't much to scream at but every mani can't be a winner.
For this I used Orly Royal Navy, Sally Hansen Color Quick in Gold Chrome, and Bundle Monster plate BM15.

That's right! I have more goodies of the nail polish kind! On with the pics!
Pucci-licious is a vibrant blue-toned medium purple creme from the Poptastic Collection.
Worth the Risque is sort of a gun mental silver linear holographic polish from the Femme Fatale Collection.
Diamond Drops is from the upcoming Blossoming Collection. The best part is that it's shards of silver holographic glitter!
Artsy Crafty is a really really really dark green from the back to Boho collection. It is much darker on the nail than it is in the bottle.

L-R Golden Age of Glitter, After Party, Posh Princess, So Hot Right Now
Golden Age of Glitter click here for review and swatches.
After Party click here for review and swatches.
Posh Princess is a nude creme with a hint of gray. It almost reminds me of putty.
So Hot Right Now is another one of those strange looking polishes in Icing that you'll probably over look. Despite the weird color separation this is actually a slightly grayed out hot cocoa shade.
*Insert clever closing line here*

Gems For Your Birthday, Beyotch?
Saturday, February 04, 2012nail a college drop out
As some of you may remember, I blogged about a little polish named Birthday Beyotch. Well, I got this amidst all the hype over rainbow glitters and now I have a short comparison for you.
Milani Gems vs Icing Birthday Beyotch
First up is Milani Gems. This is 1, 2, 3, and 4 coats respectively.
And of course this brings us to Icing Birthday Beyotch. Again It is shown in 1. 2, 3, and 4 coats respectively.
*Ding. Ding. Ding.* While Gems gives more coverage, Birthday Beyotch has a better mixture of colors. Not to mention the name is a hell of a lot more fun.
Which one is your favorite?

Today being National Wear Red Day why not wear red nail polish?
This is three coats of Wet N Wild Fast Dry Everybody Loves Redmond with two coats of my very own franken Spark of Heart as an accent nail.
Everybody Loves Redmond is a red-orange jelly that builds up pretty well, even though there is still some visible nail line.
Spark of Heart contains gold, blue, and purple hexagon shaped glitter and a few royal blue heart shaped glitters.
To find out more about why me and so many others are wearing red today go to goredforwomen.org.
